People ask me for restaurant recommendations almost as often as they ask about neighborhoods, so here are a handful of Livermore spots that consistently earn a seat at the table.
Posada
Chef Eduardo Posada opened this Alta Cocina concept back in 2013, and it’s grown into one of the most talked-about restaurants in the Tri-Valley. Southwestern and Mexican-inspired dishes executed with real fine-dining polish, think ribeye aguachile and hanger steak tacos with house tomatillo sauce. This is where I take out-of-town guests when I want to impress.
Saigon Cafe
Tucked into downtown’s Second Street, this no-frills Vietnamese spot has quietly built one of the most loyal followings in town. The pho is the real draw, clear broth, deeply seasoned, and patiently simmered. Closed Wednesdays, and lunch moves fast, so don’t let a short line scare you off.
Uncle Yu’s at the Vineyard
A downtown cornerstone since 2006, upscale but approachable. They source Wagyu beef and organic produce, which elevates familiar Chinese-American dishes into something worth coming back for again and again.
There are more great spots I’ll keep adding to this list, but these three are always my first recommendation.
