Exterior

Windows
  • Wash windows for a clear view of the outdoors
  • Check windows and trim for moisture damage
  • Seal caulk and repaint before heavy spring and summer rain
Screens
  • Remove screens and wash with mild soap and water
Gutters & Downspouts
  • Clean out rain gutters to clear any winter storm debris
  • Check downspout extenders are intact and directed away from the house
Siding & Soffits
  • Pressure wash siding from top to bottom
  • Check wood boards for holes or rot needing sealing, painting, or replacement
Wood Deck
  • Examine deck boards and support posts for rot or water damage
  • Pressure wash boards and re-stain or seal as needed
Concrete Patio
  • Inspect concrete slabs for signs of cracks or movement
  • All exterior slabs except pool decks should drain away from the foundation
Exterior Lights
  • Check that bulbs are in working order and snugly screwed in
  • Remove any rodent or bird nests
Chimney
  • Visually inspect for damage, tuckpoint or re-flash as needed
  • Have a professional inspect the flue and clean or repair as needed
Roof & Attic
  • Check roof shingles and flashing for damage
  • Check attic for obstructions over vents, roof leaks, and wet insulation
Foundation
  • Check for new cracks or damage from winter months and moisture
Grill
  • Check connections and confirm everything is operating correctly
  • Clean inside and outside thoroughly

Lawn & Landscaping

Raking
  • Rake lawn to remove dead grass and perk up flattened, matted areas
Aeration
  • Consider aeration if the lawn is compacted and struggling to absorb water and air
Fertilizing
  • Apply a spring fertilization treatment to boost grass growth through summer
Weeding
  • Pull weeds while small and soil is moist during spring months
  • Consider applying weed control fabric to prevent future growth
Mulch
  • Ensure mulch is graded 1/8 inch per foot away from the house
Trees
  • Check property for sick or weakened trees
  • Remove vines at the root of any trees to protect healthy ones
Lawn Mower
  • Change engine oil and sharpen the cutting blade for efficiency and longevity

Sump Pump
  • Inspect to ensure it is operating correctly
  • Check for leaks and remove any debris
Refrigerator
  • Replace water filter to prevent exposure to heavy metals and microbes
  • Vacuum coils at the bottom or back to improve efficiency
Smoke Alarms
  • Confirm smoke alarms are in working order
  • Charge or replace batteries as needed
Dryer Vent
  • Inspect dryer vents and hoses for blockage
  • Clean ductwork to prevent dryer fires and promote efficiency
Washing Machine
  • Check the fill hose for cracks to prevent leaks
Air Conditioning
  • Have a qualified HVAC contractor clean and service the outside unit
  • Annual service keeps the system at peak performance
  • Continue clearing grass from the compressor through spring, summer, and fall
