Hello Friends!

Pun intended.

February is a month we set aside to show appreciation for the people we love. For my family, that also includes two very special members: Luna and Zorro.

They are two of the most loving and devoted pets I've ever known. No matter what kind of day we've had, they're always there to greet us with wagging tails and happy faces. They're equally ready for belly rubs, a game of fetch, or begging for just one more treat, when they're not stealing food from the kids, but more on that in a moment.

They are a constant source of joy and comfort in our lives. While I can't speak for everyone in my family, I can say that for me, wherever they are, home is, and we are so grateful to have them as a part of our family.

Luna and Zorro are now matured beloved pets, and now spend as much time with Scarlett and Roman, and to think about it, they spend more time with them than they do with Susie and me. I jokingly say that Zorro is now Scarlett's dog, but there's more truth to that than joke. When we are all out relaxing in the living room, as an example, Zorro will choose to snuggle with Scarlett. She's also the easiest one to swipe food from, but isn't that how all best friend stories start?

Luna has always been more reserved, and if you've ever been to our house, you know how protective she is of her bed. However, she has opened up to spending more and more time with the kids. She now lets Roman pet her, and if you know her, you know how much of a treat it is for her to let you touch her. I'm not exaggerating when I say it took her FOUR YEARS for her to let me pet her.

A good friend once told me that when we have kids, we start experiencing life through their eyes. Watching our dogs grow alongside Scarlett and Roman has helped me understand that in the most unexpected and meaningful way.

Don't you wish you knew what your pets were thinking about? I do, at least I have an idea of what Zorro is thinking of when his back is straight, ears up, eyes wide open, nose pointing to the kids' food, and slowly moving towards it.

I wonder what Zorro thought when he came home with me. When he first met Susie. When he first met Luna. Why did Luna decide to pretend her legs didn't work when she came home with us? Luckily, it did not turn into another vet bill to help the doctor retire; she was just being shy.

One last thought... I appreciate you, and I appreciate your friendship this month of friends and loved ones. Cheers to you and all of your loved ones!

Your friend,

Eddie
